Ipswich - Preview | Leeds...Leeds...Leeds!

Ipswich (H): Preview

Having beaten Ipswich 4-3 at the end of August, Leeds now face the Championship newcomers at Elland Road tomorrow in the return fixture. The victory in Norfolk marked the turning point for Leeds United. Daniel Farke had been assembling his new team with anxiety engulfing the fanbase, with Farke himself hoping for the transfer window to come to a swift close before his best players were enticed away to the temptation of pastures new. Leeds were very impressive at Portman Road and certainly had the measure of Ipswich Town that day.

Another victory for Leeds will be very welcome in our quest to reduce the 10 point lead Ipswich hold but it is not the be all and end all as Farke was at pains to explain in his press conference. You can feel his exasperation as he diplomatically answered and controlled his anger to the occasional inane questions from the journalists, ones he has been asked more than once. He is not interested in looking at the league table and this game would only be vital if we had a handful of games left. Tomorrow marks the halfway stage in the season and he is very happy with how things are going. This was Daniel Farke at his most passionate and it was so heart-warming to hear the genuine love he has already for this great club.

Another full house is guaranteed even though we are so near Xmas and the match is on Sky. The 12.30 kick-off leaves me at home on the couch with some lucky man using my seat in the Kop. I expect another unchanged line up. Farke is happy with Spence at left back. He said he now expects more from him. What a relief, I thought Firpo might get a look in. He said the players are not tired, they have had a week to prepare and he will freshen things up in the games after Xmas. I can’t say I am expecting a win for Leeds. Another draw looks more likely and the thought of defeat cannot be contemplated…it would ruin Xmas and resign me to the playoffs. Farke would laugh in my face with disdain.
